16:9
HD Video, YouTube
Aspect ratio is the proportional relationship between width and height. 16:9 means for every 16 units of width, there are 9 units of height. Common ratios: 16:9 (video), 4:3 (old TV), 1:1 (square).
Instagram: 1:1 (feed), 4:5 (portrait), 9:16 (stories). Facebook: 1.91:1 (link preview), 1:1 (feed). Twitter: 16:9 (landscape). YouTube: 16:9 (standard).
Lock the aspect ratio, then change only width OR height. The calculator automatically adjusts the other dimension to maintain proportions.
16:9 is standard for YouTube, TV, and most video platforms. 9:16 for vertical video (TikTok, Reels). 2.35:1 or 2.39:1 for cinematic widescreen.
For print, consider DPI (dots per inch). At 300 DPI: a 1920×1080 image prints at 6.4×3.6 inches. The calculator shows print sizes at common DPI values.
